Under My Skin

I’ve got the beauty of Soul

Under my skin,

Banishing all brokenness,

Sickness and sin.

I’ve got the quickening of Life

Under my skin,

Illuming my true worth,

Destroying records of time or birth.

I’ve got the propulsion of Principle

Under my skin,

Radiating face to face,

My life’s journey with His grace.

I’ve got Mind’s momentum

Under my skin,

Controlling, directing and healing

Thus harmony establishing.

I’ve got Spirit’s substance

Under my skin,

Uprooting and dissolving

All discord, disease, fear, guilt and sin.

I’ve got Love’s loving and forgiving,

Under my skin,

Comforting gently

The betrayed, the lonely, or the lost sheep.

I’ve got Truth’s trust

Under my skin,

Steadfastly upholding

All faltering denying.

Clad under the armor

With His anointing,

I walk unfettered,

Blessed and free.

In His image and likeness

Jointly fitted together

Firmly knitted in His artistry

I portray my spiritual tapestry.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE PRACTICE AND THE FAN

In the book of Isaiah we read, “Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff. Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the Lord, and shalt glory in the holy One Israel.” [Isa 41:15,16]

Christian Science teaches us to use our spiritual discernment by vigilantly using our “fan” to blow away the chaff and preserve the wheat, in our daily Practice.

Mary Baker Eddy defines fan in our text book as follows. “FAN. Separator of fable from fact; that which gives action to thought.” [S&H 586:7]

“Although life appears to be a mixture of material and spiritual, there is in fact no such mixture.”Only impotent error would seek to unite Spirit with matter, good with evil," (S&H 558:18). In biblical times, fans were used with threshing instruments to separate the edible part of the grain from the inedible part. Threshing separates the grain or seed from the stalk of the plant. A fan blows away the lighter particles of chaff and dust and leaves the seed. (Isa 41:15,16]) Spiritually speaking, a fan separates fable from fact. (S&H 586:7) If you do not use your fan, your grain (good thoughts) will have impurities, such as fear, superstition, or false traits. The fan (Christian Science practice) blows those false beliefs fall away. A powerful way to use the fan is to ask yourself what God is seeing and know that only what God is seeing is going on. This is extremely powerful. The prophet Isaiah said that you can thresh mountainous problems out of your life. No matter what the evidence, Truth is the victor. In reality, you are always full of the buoyancy and vitality of Spirit. Spirit's ideas are sturdy, uplifted, and victorious.”[www.cedarscamps.org 8/4/2008]

Jesus parable of the tares and wheat teaches us the importance of the art of separating the tares and the chaff and garnishing the wheat. It reads, “Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.” [Matt13:24-30]

The fan is a very helpful tool in our daily Practice, and must be used with dominion, discretion, alertness, and gratitude.

“O many thy foes, but the arm that subdued them

And scattered their legions was mightier far;

They fled like the chaff from the scourge that pursued them,

For vain were their steeds and their chariots of war.” [Hymn200:2]

Man is God-driven

His thoughts are Mind-fastened

When through his spiritual senses

He sees and listens

Man is God-driven

When he “walks in the Spirit” [Gal.5:16]

Like Enoch who walked with God

He never experienced death

Man is God-driven

When led by God

Out of bondage

Into the Promised Land

Man is God-driven

When through dominion

He overcomes

Drought and barrenness

Christ Jesus walked with God

The ultimate example

Whose transfiguration [Mark 9:2-10]

Is a revelation to all mankind.

Let us then

With grace and gratitude

Cherish our walk with God

As we fulfill our God-given purpose.

WHAT IS HOME?
Mary Baker Eddy writes in Science and Health, “Home is the dearest spot on earth”.

Home is an idea in Mind, and not in matter, nor in its geographical location, size, mortar or bricks.
Its foundation is in PRINCIPLE, and enveloped in ideas of safety, family, economy, hospitality, friendship, comfort, love, satisfaction, rest, peace, order and beauty.
Its structure is cemented by TRUTH, and inspired by LOVE, where no thieves can break in, or moth and rust can corrupt it.
The light of SOUL illumines and brightens it, with restful serenity and compassion..
SPIRIT, God, gathers the dwellers of this home, at its hearth, keeping them warm and cosy, sustaining and nurturing them.
LIFE, God maintains vitality, and activates freshness and newness continually.
MIND, God, maintains it and intelligently guides all its dwellers with wisdom, economy, and brotherly love.

TRANSACTION [buying and selling the home]

The word ‘transact’ comes from the Latin word “to push”,…to carry through, execute, handle, achieve, take care of, settle,

The entire transaction of this home is taking place in the sanctity of Soul, in the Kingdom of God, where honesty reigns supreme.
It cannot be a burdened venture, with fear, human opinions, and false sense of responsibility, regrets, or resentment crowding thought. Detach thought from any sense of resistance to be rigid, with self will controlling man.
Refuse to yield to any false sense of possession, or bondage of ownership, greed, or covetousness, to bind man.
Our inheritance is from God, and not any human inheritance can add to or deduct from man’s complete true and continuing supply.
Man is detached from any sense of error that can overpower his ‘clear sense and calm trust’. No sense of selfish motivation can obstruct or interfere with its progress. Mrs Eddy reminds us, “Dishonesty is human weakness.”[SC&H]. So it cannot pollute, adulterate, or contaminate or delay this transaction.
This transaction is free from any beaurocracy, red tape, or time bound calendar.

Love is its liberator, and deliverer of this transaction. This transaction is gathering new energy, with freshness, expectancy, and exuberance. The complete unfoldment appears thro order, effortlessness and proper presentation. “Spirit, God, gathers unformed thoughts into their proper channels, and unfolds these thoughts, even as He opens the petals of a holy purpose in order that the purpose may appear”[S&H 506:18]

The Christ goes before us to prepare and open the way, for this transaction to dissolve any impasse, delay or discouragement.
Just as nothing can stop the dawn from breaking through, in the same way nothing can delay this transaction from taking its course safely to its completion and fruition.
The Bible promises us in 2 Corinthians,” For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened: But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:” [2cor8:13-15]

Identification

Because God, Spirit, is the source of our substance and supply, man is satisfied, contented and at rest, at peace and complete. His dependence is not resting on any material inheritance, but on spiritual ideas.
Because Love, God inspires, designates and leads the way, man is relaxed, worriless, and in control of all his affairs.
Because Truth’s integrity is the impetus, man I bases all his decisions on being upright and honest.
Principle controls, balances, and motivates this transaction, with precision, harmony, limitlessness, and order, from its conception to its fruition. No luck, chance or any other cause can obstruct, destruct, intrude, or invert its harmony.
Life, God activates this holy plan, as it takes shape and fulfils its purpose.
Soul stimulates this transaction, into its proper appearing.
Mind directs this transaction with safety, wisdom and intelligent ideas.

No sense of coveting, influencing, conniving distrust, dissatisfaction, discouragement, anger, human will can stop this transaction.

Man gratefully transfers the ownership of his precious abode, to bless the new owners, for them to enjoy their new adventure in this home. No sense of false personal attachment or possessiveness can delay, or postpone its completion.

Thank you God for being our strength, our guidance, our compass, and our protection, to make this transaction a blessing to all.

Every detail of this transaction is already established in Mind and blessed by Christ. Deep gratitude for this transaction, is taking place in the ark of safeness

The Reality about Relationships

THE REALITY ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS

Recently the citation from the book of Ecclesiastes was in the weekly Bible Lesson. It reads, “Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.”[Eccl7:29] Looking up the word “inventions” in the Strong’s Concordance, I found one of the meanings to be “a contrivance- warlike machine”

Incompatibility in human relationships appears to be one such contrivance very prevalent in our society today. This subtle serpentile suggestion damages and destroys the basic foundation of family togetherness, brotherhood, and unity of interests. It is the “noisome pestilence” that tears our homes, relationships, and our health, apart.

Under the marginal heading, “Divided Vestments” Mary Baker Eddy reminds us in our textbook, “The divine Science of man is woven into one web of consistency without seam or rent. Mere speculation or superstition appropriates no part of the divine vesture, while inspiration restores every part of the Christly garment of righteousness.[ 242:25]
Jesus parable of the tares and the wheat surely teaches us about the role of the enemy, or animal magnetism, creating confusion and chaos in our human relationships. Harmony forgiveness and peace in all our relationships bind us to each other. Disagreements, disappointment, discouragement, discord, feeling deprived, envy, jealousy, dishonesty, being unsure of one’s contribution and role in the design and pattern of the family-fabric, are the hidden tares that need to be exposed, gathered, bound, and burnt, after praying at harvest time.
God positions each idea of His creation, as He does the solar bodies in the universe. He maintains their harmonious relationship. In this concordant togetherness, there can be no competition, disconnectedness, depravation, dissension, disruption, power-game-mirages, and illusions of popularity contests, contention, friction, obtrusion, separation, loneliness, intrusion or inversion.
In the book of Ecclesiastes we read, “whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him. [13:14] Mind preserves and conserves the dignity, unity, purity, and sanctity of man’s relationship to God, and to other fellow beings, with rhythm and restoration.

“Do you hear what I hear?”

“Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy,’Do you hear what I hear?”

This yuletide carol,
So dear and familiar,
Brings the Christ message
To every listening ear.
To the young man, tongue-tied
Who could not hear?
The healing word, Jesus cried out
Loud and clear!!
“EPHPHATHA” *
For this healing, to the Christ he came,
Waiting patiently to hear his name.

The multitude to Jesus did beseech,
A call to heal this impediment
To the deaf man’s speech.
With authority followed,
The Christ command,
“Be thou open”.-
The seal that had deafened the sound
And blocked his ear,
Was now unsealed.

His hearing instantly
Was repaired and restored;
Stayed no longer impaired or closed.
While freeing the inner thought
All tension was thus released,
When man no longer feels
Distressed or dis-eased.
Instead he rejoices forever
Whole, and healed
For thus the truth to him was revealed.

Let us then celebrate,
God’s unerring government,
Safe in His keeping
Is man’s at-onement.
Let us then in unison
Thus joyously sing,….

HOW DOES GOD SEE MAN?

God sees man
As His image and likeness.
Man created complete,
Can never his substance deplete.

God sees man
Upright and whole,
Reflecting Soul,
Always at peace and beautiful.

God sees man
Unfragmented, consistent.
Embraced by an armor,
“without seam or rent”.[S&H242:26]

God sees man rejoicing,
Harmonious and listening.
In tune with his Father,
Distracted by none other.

God sees man
Healthy and restful,
Going about His Father’s business,
Tireless, effortless and free.

God sees man
Loving and lovable,
Being his brother’s keeper,
In God’s vineyard.

How does man see himself?
As the glory of His borrowed light.
